Apparatus for investigations of oscillations of elastic tubes conveying fluids.

An apparatus is based on the “Starling Resistor” scheme. Thin-wall elastic latex tube (Penrose tube) is attached at each end to rigid metal tubes. Working fluid (water or water-glycerin mixture) circulates in a closed loop. The pump carries the fluid to the base tank, which is located at a height of 10 meters above the test section of the apparatus. It flows from the base tank under the force of gravity. The tube is submerged into the water to exclude its sag.

Varying parameters of the system are the inlet p1 and outlet p2 pressures, external pressure pe, flow rate Q, tube diameter and length, working fluid properties.

The apparatus is equipped with BD Sensors and Honeywell pressure gauges, Karat flowmeter, microphone, National Instruments analog-to-digital convertor. Measured data is recorded and visualised using software in LabView environment.
